One Good Chair Competition
It’s already time for the One Good Chair Competition again, and this year we couldn’t be more excited about the theme - local and regional furniture. The annual competition, sponsored by The Sustainable Furnishings Council and World Market Center Las Vegas, will award fabulous cash prizes and publishing opportunities to the best and brightest designs that embody and enhance a particular place. So pick a place, any place, and design a chair that exemplifies it. Final registration for the competition closes this weekend on June 15th, so register today!
Winners of the competition will receive a cash prize, have their winning design published in a number of media outlets, and have an opportunity to get the chair built. Your mission, should you choose to enter, is to design a chair that ‘Makes Good, Feels Good, Looks Good’ and is geared towards relaxation, casual seating or lounging. Also your chair should be made for a specific place, and constructed from local or regional materials. Design submissions are already being accepted until June 30th, and late registration ends this weekend on June 15th for a fee of $75.
Last year we featured the winners of the design competition, which asked designers to create a chair that ‘Does Good, Feels Good, Looks Good’. We were so impressed by the way all of the designs made efficient use of greener materials, while being both aesthetically pleasing and ergonomic. We are looking forward to the new design entries and their creative interpretation of seating for a specific region.
